Seth Troxler, Spectral’s resident mysticism-spewing mad scientist, pretty much wowed’em at the Movement festival this weekend. (Check out an interview with the mercurial Troxler at The Detroit Free Press.) Troxler also mixed the new Resident Advisor podcast (it’s their 150th, in fact). We asked Seth his thoughts on Michigan, and the Detroit scene in general, and he was pleasingly lucid and insightful:
“Michigan is the raddest place to grow up. Michigan’s number-one export is intelligent youth and cool people all over the world, but no one stays there. It’s sad but it’s impossible because there are no jobs. I think there’s something about being a peninsula. We’re isolated and have our own cultural references. It’s the perfect incubator for radness—intellectual people who are really down-to-earth.”
We couldn’t agree more, dude.
