We’re thrilled to announce that the Australian duo Kllo has joined the Ghostly International family. Their songs blend rich, beat-heavy production with elegant pop melodies for a combination that is both captivating and timeless. A collaboration between Melbourne cousins Simon Lam and Chloe Kaul, Kllo have already garnered praise from critics and peers. Their warm, woozy first single, ‘Make Me Wonder,’ was picked up by BBC Radio 1, and the duo were named “Artists to watch in 2015” by Spotify and Elle Magazine. We’re excited to welcome them to the Ghostly family.
Curious about what the Ghostly team has been listening to around the office this month? Our December Spotify playlist has a roundup of the songs that have soundtracked our entrance to winter. Follow us on Spotify for more playlists from Ghostly artists, staff and collaborators.
The video for Shigeto’s “Do My Thing,” a Venue Project produced by VSCO, takes the spirit of artful partnership to the next level. Working with artist and longtime Ghostly friend and collaborator Michael Cina, Shigeto is at the center of a video that not only showcases his explosive live performance, but also displays work from Cina’s new book, A Century of Artifice.
The video was shot at New York’s SIR Studios, which has been a rehearsal space for artists like The Ramones, Lou Reed, Joan Jett, Jay-Z and many, many more. It’s a thrilling, visceral showcase for two likeminded artists working in different mediums.
Awake represented a high-water mark for Tycho, described by Scott Hansen himself as being, “in many ways, the first True Tycho record.”
Now, that narrative is expanded with the release of Awake Remixes. On this 12”, Hansen’s songs are re-interpreted by producers who make each song their own, while still retaining all of their core elements. Featuring work by Baio, Beacon, RJD2, Nitemoves and more, Awake Remixes brings the narrative of Awake to its conclusion, and sets the stage for the next chapter. We’re pleased to offer Awake Remixes on blue vinyl, available for pre-order today in The Ghostly Store.
And if you’re eager for an earful of these new interpretations: This morning, Zane Lowe premiered Baio’s remix of “Plains” on his Beats One radio show. You can listen to it here.
Lord RAJA’s forthcoming record PARA is an expansive, genre-defying, globe-trotting experience. With sounds recorded everywhere from Austin’s famed synth store Switched On to field recordings from a trip RAJA took to India, PARA expands RAJA’s universe of sound, while staying rooted in the electronic music and hip-hop that defined his earliest years. You can hear all of that in “Stoked Tourist,” a song The FADER calls “delightfully off-kilter and totally buoyant.” Pre-Order it at The Ghostly Store today.
