Director/designer Jack Featherstone (Simian Mobile Disco, James Holden, Warp Records) has delivered the first video for Fort Romeau’s upcoming Insides LP, an expressively abstract piece for “Not a Word”. Premiering today on Dazed, the restrained collaboration with Dublin house producer/vocalist New Jackson suits Featherstone’s flickering movements well. As Fort Romeau told the UK publication of his new clip, “It feels analog and mechanical, which really resonates with our approach to the production and mixing of the track.”
Between March 15 and June 21, Tycho will once again hit the road for another extensive tour of the US and Canada. The San Francisco band is taking their immersive live performance to the East Coast, West Coast, and everything in between, eventually meeting up with UK indie rockers Alt-J for a handful of dates. Make sure to see Tycho at this year’s festivals, too—including Coachella, Lightning in a Bottle, Bonnaroo, and Firefly.
It’s been nearly six years since HTRK debuted with Marry Me Tonight, the first and only album written entirely by the Australian band’s original lineup. The trio’s record is rife with breathy and caustic pop mutations, co-produced by Rowland S. Howard before his tragic death the same year it released. Originally available only on digital and CD formats, Marry Me Tonight will be issued on vinyl for the first time via Ghostly.
HTRK’s revitalized debut will be available on standard black and translucent magenta vinyl, with both versions featuring a 20-page booklet of photos and liner notes. Among the many contributors are Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner, Angus Andrew of Liars, producer Lindsay Gravina, Danielle de Picciotto, and Genevieve McGuckin, to name a few. Before this special vinyl pressing of Marry Me Tonight arrives on April 28, HTRK will tour North America for the first time since 2011.
We’re fast approaching the March 31 release date of Fort Romeau’s sumptuous sophomore album, Insides, and are now pleased to share its second single. Following the jacking title track and lead single is “Not a Word”, Fort Romeau’s meditative collaboration with Dublin artist New Jack (Permanent Vacation/Hivern Discs). Immerse yourself in the duo’s colorful house music, and read what Dummy had to say about the tune, over on their premiere of “Not a Word”.
Hot on the heels of Thousand Thursday, the long-awaited second album by multi-talented NYC artist Michna, we’re pleased to announce a remix contest for standout single “Solid Gold (feat. MNDR)”. From now until March 9, fans and producers can head to Beatport and grab the individual stems from Michna’s icy dance-pop tune for their own remix. One grand-prize winner will have their track featured exclusively on Beatport, and will also walk away with a brand-new Casio XW-G1 groove synthesizer, among other prizes.
The deadline for submissions is March 9, and winners will be selected and announced by April 7. You can check out all of the rules and conditions for Michna’s remix contest here.
The last time Australian duo HTRK toured the US was in 2011, after releasing their first Ghostly album, Work (work, work). Roughly four years and one critically acclaimed LP later (Psychic 9-5 Club, of course), Jonnine Standish and Nigel Yang are once again ready to embark on a tour of North America. The two-week jaunt kicks off on February 21 in San Diego, CA and will end March 6 in Houston, TX, making stops in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Miami, and Mexico City.
