[NEWS] Solvent to Release Deluxe Edition of "New Ways: Music from the Documentary I Dream of Wires"

To celebrate the release of the modular synth documentary I Dream of Wires on Netflix, iTunes and DVD, we’re excited to announce a deluxe edition of New Ways: Music from the Documentary I Dream of Wires, Solvent’s soundtrack for the film. The re-release features all-new artwork, and contains a full 74 minutes of additional bonus material, including previously unreleased Solvent music from the film, as well as new remixes from artists who were interviewed for the film, including Wrangler (feat Cabaret Voltaire’s Stephen Mallinder), Chris Carter (Throbbing Gristle, Chris & Cosey), Orphx, Martial Canterel, and more. To celebrate the release, he’s also unveiled a video for “Pattern Recognition,” which you can watch here

Solvent’s involvement in the project extends beyond just the music—a devoted fan of modular synths, Solvent’s Jason Amm produced and co-wrote the documentary, and served as an interviewer for several of the conversations in the film. The music on New Ways reflects the synth’s unique sound, full of warbling electronics, robotic rhythms and odd, ambient interstitials. It’s not just the perfect accompaniment to the film, it’s a glimpse at what the machine can do, and offers compelling evidence for why it’s returned to favor.
