Beacon's "Marion" Single

April 29, 2017

In the spirit of springtime and in the afterglow of an appearance with Tycho at Coachella, Beacon have shared a new single. It’s the first glimpse of what’s been happening in the New York duo’s studio since 2016 LP, Escapements.

At the heart of “Marion” is a hammered dulcimer. The percussive, stringed instrument—an ancient ancestor of the piano—acts as the composition’s harmonic and dynamic guide. Samples ebb and flow, projecting into the mix at moments of brightness and clarity. Other times they recede beneath Mullarney’s crystalline voice and a bed of feathery, pneumatic production. This is the mode in which Beacon have always thrived: wistful amidst pulsing electronics and soft-washed hues.

[News] Com Truise Announces Iteration LP

Com Truise returns June 16th.

How much emotion can one man convey through his machines? Iteration, the forthcoming full-length of technicolour synth-wave from producer Seth Haley aka Com Truise, challenges that notion and concludes a sprawling saga which began six years ago on his debut, Galactic Melt. True to its name, the album is built on Com Truise hallmarks: neon-streaked melodies, big drums, robotic grooves, bleary nostalgia. It’s also the most elegant and streamlined that Haley’s music has ever sounded.
