Taken from the revered Apples & Synthesizers LP, “Think Like Us” is among Solvent’s most mysterious and engaging tracks. Jettisoning the fluff and cuteness that plagues many in the electro-pop genre, Toronto native Jason Amm has crafted a perfect tune that is at once dark and disconcerting, propulsive and danceable.
Following an alternate version created by Solvent with his cohort Lowfish, “Think Like Us” gets a bouncing remix by Ectomorph, and a jacking, four-on-the-floor interpretation from Alter Ego. Rounding out the record is an a cappella version, plus the exclusive track “Thirteen”, whose claustrophobic atmosphere is underscored by a buzzing bass refrain and a crushing vocoder.
“Think Like Us” shows the extent of Solvent’s impressive versatility within his field, as it’s a seamless piece that makes Amm’s job seem deceptively easy.
